The University Athletic Association at the University of Florida is searching for a technician to support IT operations at sporting events and provide general technical support to staff. Responsibilities include installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining UAA scoreboard controllers, statistical input systems, live scoring networks (on-site and remote, including web and national television broadcasts), and related equipment. The role manages the purchase and maintenance of timing equipment for swimming events; supervises, trains, and schedules part-time event support staff for selected sports; and assists with UAA Help Desk operations, including in-person and phone troubleshooting, and software and hardware support. This position is exposed to general office, athletic facility, confined and/or non-climate-controlled spaces, campus, and/or game day environments.
This position requires the incumbent to support Windows and macOS endpoints, mobile devices, and Microsoft 365; perform basic networking (TP/IP, DNS, DHCP), Wi-Fi configuration, and remote support; troubleshoot hardware and AV (laptops, printers, peripherals, displays, cabling); document work in a ticketing system; be independent, self-motivated, and detail-oriented; have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; multitask effectively; work efficiently with minimal supervision; engage effectively with others of diverse cultures or backgrounds; and work a non-standard work week which will include evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call hours.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED*
Two years of relevant experience and/or certification*
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an intercollegiate athletic environment
*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of listed requirement.
